Foundation into flight

Project Summary

Project:  Learn to be a solo pilot for a glider that uses thermals to stay aloft. These gliders do not have a propellor and are launched by an airtow. 

I learned the basics of aircraft mechanics and flight principals at the model scale before applying them to manned flight.

Youth Soaring Camp in Aviation                                                   

  • Topics include aerodynamics, airspace, regulations, glider/aircraft components, launch and recovery procedures, glider maneuvers, and soaring techniques.

Flight Steward - SAE - Aero Design West hosted by Lockheed Martin, Los Angeles, CA                  Feb 2024                                                             

  • Assisted university aero design teams throughout the competition.

  • Runway Flagger,  set up, and clean up.

Sugar Bush Soaring

  • Invited to assist in development in drone curriculum. Fall 2024
