Self-portrait: ‘light painting’ (using long exposure with drone)
About
From Los Angeles, CA
I am an engineer at heart; I enjoy the problem-solving aspect of these projects. I am a maker who is inspired to explore and create. I appreciate how I can apply something I learned from one project to another project across another discipline.
Whether racing FPV drones in MultiGP (world’s largest drone racing league), working on an independent high-power rocketry project, team building a competitive robot, or learning the foundations of flight, I am developing the practical skills of design, fabrication, and confidence.
These projects take me to the dry lakebed near the Mojave Desert, to the Apollo XI field built in 1914 in the San Fernando Valley, and to the Sugarbush Airport in Warren, Vermont.
I plan to use these skills to solve today’s problems, both big and small.
My learning happens both in the classroom and from many specialized communities, from MultiGP to ROC (Rocketry Organization of CA), Sugarbush Soaring, and First Robotics. Inspired by the support I have received, I have created a community at my school for like-minded project-based students. My aerospace teacher/mentor inspired me, and he sponsored me in forming Flight Club. Here, we build drones, attend airshows, learn from each other and have fun!
Volunteering in these communities has not only been rewarding and an opportunity to give back to those that have inspired me, but it has helped me gain valuable new perspectives
I am eager to be an active member and leader both in-class and in engineering clubs during college.
